May in Foundation Stage Reception Base 1

We LOVE… PE on a Tuesday and Forest School on a Thursday

We have been developing our observational drawing skills and designing skills through the use of oil pastels and woodwork. JUST LOOK at our skills.

Woodwork has developed perseverance, confidence, resilience and social skills such as the ability to wait as others complete a sustained piece of work.

We have also extended our skills in other ways ..

..  AMAZING Unit Block constructions

3D Star Wars sculptures

Reading the class story at the end of the day.

May in Foundation Stage / Nursery

Having Fun in May in both the rain and the sun!

Building friendships has been very important across the first half of this term.

You can see that playing and learning with our friends makes us very happy.

We have started to further develop our skills …Just look what we can do now!

Wednesday 22nd July 10 Things to do this Summer

HELLO EVERYONE  A HUGE THANK YOU

I would like to express my THANKS and PRIDE in the work and commitment EVERY family has shown across the last 4 months. During the last week, at work with my F2 class, watching the F1’s children on our Zoom calls and observing the reactions when children have been able to return into the setting for our ‘Get together’,  it has been ABSOLUTELY FANTASTIC.

The smiles, joy, confidence, friendship and laughter that we always shared together  in class has continued to shine and blossom as we have  experienced learning in different forms. Each Zoom was different and a thrilling new learning journey for myself and my team, children singing five current buns, or five little monkeys, retelling their own favourite story, building their own playdough characters or even leading the Zoom memory game session,

The last two days watching your children  bounce with joy as they entered the outside area during our get together has been priceless. You all have such amazing children and they truly make me smile.

ENJOY Every single moment of your summer holidays. Make precious memories,  playing together and sharing hours of free fun having picnics in the garden, walking in the sun or rain, time to be silly together and laugh your list will be so LONG. DO whatever makes you all happy and you enjoy yourselves.

September will be a new start for everyone within the familiar groups we know. I am extremely pleased to be able to share even more time with your children because they truly are a pleasure to teach. The F1 children and parents! returning will start a new journey for us as we introduce Forest School Sessions as part of our transition. this new venture makes me excited and I know the sessions will bring HUGE smiles to your children’s faces.

10 THINGS TO DO THIS SUMMER

1:- SMILE and HAVE DEEP BELLY Laughs!

2:- Enjoy making things

3:- Enjoy getting messy with paint, sand or MUD!

4:- Continue to bake and explore new recipes

5:- Keep HUNTING for bugs and insects

I look forward to seeing you all again in September when we all have had time to rest and enjoy time together with family on holiday. A holiday which might be different than usual but will still build important memories for life. Make those memories very SPECIAL.

This is the last week we will be meeting together on a Tuesday and Wednesday. We have  had so much fun meeting up and enjoying each others company. It has been wonderful to see you playing with each other safely having so much fun inside and outside.

We hope that you will continue to to so this week.

You may choose to do some gardening, or to play with the mud kitchen, or perhaps to create a puppet show, enjoy water play, tell jokes, paint and finally finish your clay pots creating a box to transport them home safely!

Friday 10th July 2020

Good morning everyone!

Aplologies for the lack of posts over the past week but our website had a bit of a hitch which did not allow us to upload pictures etc for you to view and this was out of our control but we are all fixed now I hope?!!

From next week I will only be adding  a new post for you to view on a Monday and a Thursday. We have taken this decision because of the time we are working in school with groups of children and also offering zoom video story sessions!

We hope that you have been able to enjoy the time at home and possibly taken the opportunity to meet up with family members you have not been able to see over the past months? We have had a lovely time in school loving spending such fun times with the children and enjoying seeing some of you on a Zoom video story time!.  Here is a flavour of some of the activities we have been enjoying in school:

The children liked the opportunity to cut fruit to make their own kebabs and ice cream. Interestingly some children found opening and peeling their own banana quite a challenge! Over the weekend let your child help you prepare some of your meals: cutting vegetables, peeling fruit and even opening some packages with your support of course! All these skills are vital to develop independence skills and developing fine motor control and hand strength!

Mrs Heap brought Ching Ching into class on Wednesday to help make ice cream .

When Alfie saw him he said “Wow! it’s Ching, Ching, he’s on my mummy’s phone and now he is here!”

Here is Ching, Ching and Mrs Heap making ice cream. Why don’t you try this at home this weekend! Click the blue writing to see the recipe        Ice cream dream with Ching Ching

Enjoy the following story together: Olivers Milk shake by Vivian french

Could you help make a yummy, scrummy tip top tasty milk shake this weekend or make some freezy ice cream

I just found this Ice cream story for you to listen too:

Here is a little poem:

I scream!

You scream!

We all scream!

for ice cream!

Could you make up a poem about something you like?

Have a lovely weekend

Mrs Penn, Mrs Coleman and Mrs Heap

PS: Please make sure you have read all the letters about returning in September. If you can not find them on the gateway app or on the website or you need something explained please get in touch by phone or email!!

Wednesday 1st July Balancing in different ways

This photo just says EVERYTHING!  What a wonderful photo of joy and delight in their own skills.

Good Morning Everyone.

I had a huge smile when I saw these new photos in my emails. The excitement in your skills is GREAT to be able to see. I had a lovely Tuesday being able to talk to some of you on Zoom. You were FANTASTIC at leading the memory game sessions and taking turns with your peers. You should be very proud of yourself.

It was great to see all of the different things that you selected from your home for the game.  I WONDER WHAT TODAY’S KIMS GAME GROUP WILL BRING???  Some of you will be getting ready for dough disco…..

It is lovely to see that you are still exploring your cutting and craft skills. Wonderful concentration skills.

PHYSICAL CHALLENGES…. I wonder if you set yourself challenges like your friend here when you find things to climb on during your outside adventures?

I wonder what physical challenges you can set yourself?

Child Stone Wall Balancing Walking

KEEP EXPLORING AND CHALLENGING YOURSELF.

Do let me know if you managed to make a kite or mix a range of colours.

Today is another Author story time….ENJOY   I know someone else who has just got a NEW CAT ( KITTEN!!)  She also shows you how she drew the pictures of the cat and dog

Wednesday 1st July 2020

Hello All and happy first of the month to you!

We hope you had a good Tuesday at home? Maybe you tried the activity from yesterday or enjoyed the story posted? We had a super day in school! The children explored paint with marbles, torches, made fruit chocolate kebabs, and so many decisions about their water play; even the stick insects had lots of attention! Here are a few photos:

Could you explore with a torch at home? What happens if you put something over the end of your torch or you shine it through something that has holes in it like a colander??

Or perhaps you could make your own fruit kebab and melt some chocolate to go over it? Delicious!

Ella created a story by drawing a picture and adding some toys. She moved the toys to create this story:

Ella’s story (Mrs Penn wrote down exactly what Ella said)

Once upon a time there was a Panda, the little one, 2 elephants: the mummy and the daddy, a Zebra and an elephant: nanny and Grandad.

Nanny and Grandad drived and drived and they came to a supermarket and then they went to all of the fruits and vegetables and then they went to pay for the strawberries, and they brought cucumbers and they choosed oranges. They cost 5000 dollars ! They forgot the 5000 dollars in their car. They stealed and they got pennies and came back to their car and they gave their pennies for the shopping, sweeties for the Little One! They went back to the car!

The End

I wonder if you can create a story with your toys and perhaps your mummy or daddy or older sister or brother could write it for you!

It was lovely to get an email last night from Alfie. He has enjoyed lots of fun activities I especially like his weather map!

Maybe you could make some weather signs to  put up in your house each day?

Today’s story is “Handa’s Surprise” by Eileen Browne. We had Handa’s Hen a few days ago, this is another story about Handa and links to our fruit kebab making!

We hope that Wednesday is wonderful for you all

Tuesday 30th June Making Kites

Good Morning Everyone

I hope that you had a creative day full of colour. You will find colours to mix inside and outside.

Look at this rainbow piano picture, it is being played as they sit on a purple and blue stool. ( taped strips that have been coloured)

Look at this design work from Monday morning……..A spectacular bed made from card, cotton wool and felt…STUNNING WORK.

Designing was a High Focus ALL morning using card, the marble run and  bricks.

This was Elsa in her dress with additional stars.

I wonder which colours you managed to mix ? Using RED, Yellow and BLUE

Today Tuesday I wonder if you could make your own kite? Yesterday one of the children in F2 class made a pink kite with a long decorative tail.

I wonder what shape and size your kite could be?

This is a simple pattern, but your child might wish to create their own shape. All you will need to do is an attached piece of string. ENJOY testing your kites

Today ( Tuesday) I will be able to say HELLO to the F1 children, YEAH!  as Tuesday and Wednesday are my Zoom days.  I always look forward to finding out what you have been enjoying, at home or when you have been out and about.

A NEW story for you all to share together… Enjoy

See you all soon. Miss Butler, Miss Lofthouse and Mrs Breakwell.

Tuesday 30th June 2020

Good morning everyone!

We hope that you had a good Monday making each other laugh either with silly jokes or in other ways. Mr Franklin told these jokes in the Key worker group, who are working on a theme of Space, I hope they make you laugh:

How do you get an astronaut’s baby to sleep?

You rocket!

Why do astronaunts have such good parties?

They planet!

Have you any jokes you could share with us??

Today and tomorrow some  of the children from the foundation stage Base 2 will be in school. Here is a taster of some of the fun activities that you might like to try:

I wonder how many items you found to fill your small boxes and containers yesterday?

Today’s challenge is to go large!

Find a big box or container and find items that measure the same  size as your shoe or bigger! No item smaller than your shoe can be added to the box. Will you find less items now they are bigger or have you found a huge box??

Today is the last day for  Joyful June:

Make a list of the joys in your life and keep adding to that list!

Check this list each day to remind you that there will always be moments of joy!

The story today is:”Papa get the moon for me” by Eric Carle: The moon changes size in this story!

We wish you all a tremendous Tuesday!
