Tuesday 2nd June Lines and Circles
Hello Everyone Good Morning its Tuesday, we had another HOT day on Monday! I wonder if you explored water fun in the heat?

Fun swinging in Forest School

Paint mixing became a strong focus using BIG pieces of paper!

In the afternoon we made our chocolate chip cup cakes … A Busy Monday in school.
Then I opened up my email and You’ve had a BUSY few days at home…
Thank you again for sharing your wonderful learning .
- Cooking continues to be fabulous fun
- Lego building and look at the amazing balance in this structure.
- Look at this AMAZING 5yr old Birthday Cake … STUNNING

WOW such busy active learning…filled with spirals and water fun!!!
Today’s challenge links to a photo I was sent and today’s learning at school.
If you had a circle – or a paper plate what would you create….. The list of ideas are endless…but What will you choose to make?
![]()
Does your child create lines… Its a form of thinking known as a ‘schema’ lines are often considered a very mathematical exploration… There are lots of different schema’s.
What items does your child choose to independently line up… Where do they line up their item? On the window sills, across the floor, on the edge of tables? Its all really interesting and a deep form of thinking, this is why if items are moved from a line they have made they can become upset… its hard thinking they are doing, making these lines.
I wonder if your pets like to have a wash!
Keep Enjoying your active learning and Keep Smiling Miss Butler
Tuesday 2nd June 2020

It was lovely to open some more photos of your holiday fun! Here are some from Thomas for you to look at. Have you been to the same place ever?
- Where can this be?
- On the beach
- So quiet and still watching the ducks
Your challenge today is to enjoy some water play in your garden or outdoor space:
Water painting: you can use paint brushes, rollers and even old tooth brushes to paint with. This fun activity will allow your arms to strengthen, you can do really long strokes or fine and small strokes. Will your marks disappear in the sunshine?
Can you travel holding a cup of water without spilling it from one end of your garden to the other? Try different sized containers can you do it on your head? Can you place some obstacles in your pathway to negotiate? Collect the water in a bucket so you can reuse it. Have a race with a family member!!

Local women carrying buckets on their heads, Malawi, Africa
Try using wet sponges and and throw them into different sized bowls or buckets add a number to each bowl or bucket who gets the biggest score!

Perhaps you would like a bowl of soapy water so you can wash your toys or even wash your big wheeled toys like bikes and scooters like a real car wash!
Today’s story is about is about The Rainbow Fish. Did you like the end of the story? Was this the right thing for the Rainbow Fish to do? Yesterday we saw the jelly fish that Alfie created can you create your own creature who lives in the sea? If you do take a photo to show us

Friday 22nd May 2020
Hello everyone!
Wow! What a scorcher today turned out to be! At one point in the afternoon the garden temperature was reading 28 degrees centigrade! I popped into school to continue some phone calls and as ever it was lovely to hear your voices and your thinking especially about potentially returning to school after June 1st. It has been encouraging to hear your all your ponderings and also your desire to do what is right for your children!
As we come to the end of this past half term I have reflected on how much you have been achieving at home and where the learning for your child has shone through! We have seen Mrs Heap rise as a video star with the aid of Ching Ching and these videos have inspired you to sing, dance and cook! Cooking is an activity that has kept you all busy and some children have even cooked and tried new foods for the first time. We have all been able to enjoy being outdoors watching seeds grow, finding mini beasts, exploring water, wind and bubbles, you have used your reading skills to looks at maps and plan routes and even find treasure so well done all!
- Reading the map
- Bread dough made and ready to cook
- DIY project completed
- FANTASTIC messy Play
- Flowers pressed and dried
- Making a rain maker
- Making up stories and books
- Skittle games made and played
- Seeds to explore
We hope that over the half term week you will continue to have fun creating your own challenges developing your skills as you do so! Remember those memory games you can play with items on a tray or jumping on coloured circles of paper in the correct order! Or using a 2 dice to calculate how many jumps or spins etc you could do!

When you are out and about remember to stop walking and listen to what you can hear. Like me, you may begin to notice the varied songs the birds sing. Have a listen to this you tube video
We have added lots of stories for you to enjoy and maybe you could think of some stories you would like included on our posts after the half term holiday. The story I have chosen for you today is about a little boy and his dog “Dogger”
We wish you a good half term and there will be a new post for you on Monday 1st June. Stay safe, have fun and keep on smiling

Thursday 21st May
Hello Everyone
What another beautifully sunny day Wednesday turned out to be! I was working in school with Mrs Heap, Mrs Coleman, Mrs Breakwell, Miss Lofthouse and Miss Butler. I was able to phone and chat with some of you and will be calling others today and Tomorrow. It is good to hear your voices and have honest discussion about how you are feeling about possibly coming back to school after 1st June. With this in mind I have uploaded some photos of how our classroom looks to allow us to keep a safe distance but also to be able to enjoy each others company. Please have a look at the photos and talk to each other about how our classroom now looks:
- Base 1 classroom 2 metre design table
- The book area has changed
- Does this looks the same?
- This looks same! The den will change every day as we add new paper!! On Monday it will be twinkling trees!
- No changes here, we have LOTS of space
Mrs Heap took a group of children and she made her bread recipe with Ching Ching. The children made their own roll shapes! As you can see from the photo the rolls look like that they were made by professional bakers! Well done Mrs Heap and Ching Ching. The children were really fascinated at how the dough grew in size as it prooved. Why not try to bake some rolls at home. The recipe can be found on Tuesday’s post 19th March.
While I was talking to you today it was good to hear so many of you were having fun outside in your paddling pools and outside spaces. At Forest school today the children created a den and then they protected their den from other den builders with some water jets! They had fun, there was lots of screaming but nobody got too wet!! You could do this at home in your garden and stop any other member of your family trying to get into your den with a water sprayer or you can come up with your own warning alarm!

I wonder did you manage to make ice lollies yesterday to enjoy today? Or perhaps you have some ice that is frozen to explore? Miss Butler has posted another ice activity on her Base1 post today : painting with ice cubes why not take a look.

Today our story is about a” little cloud ” by Eric Carle. It is fascinating to lay on the ground and watch the clouds and see what pictures or shapes you can see
We hope you have a good day having fun!

Thursday 21st May Our classroom ready for 1st June
Hello …WHAT a HOT afternoon we had on Wednesday. I was in school on Wednesday, we were very busy… Baking bread, Forest school with water shooting games and then we finished by all sharing lollipops outside under the canopy. I know some of you have also been busy using the recipe that I posted showing you have to make fruit and yoghurt lollipops.
- Chopping up the banana
- Adding the yoghurt
- Blending all of the ingredients together

There are so many different recipes that you could explore for making lollipops …Have you ever added sprinkles on top of the lollipops you make ?
Mrs Heap supported the key Worker group in school today to make Bread with Ching Ching….WOW WOW WOW look at the end results.
When I eventually manage to get the ingredients for Mrs Heaps bread recipe I will try at home. Do try the recipe if you can, you will find it on Tuesday’s home learning post.
It was lovely to talk to so many F2 children and families again today and even if you were hiding from the phone I could imagine your smile! I have taken photos of the classroom so that you can see the small changes I have made to ensure that we all keep safe and work at a 2 mtr distance. See what you can remember and what looks different? You will see that we will all have the opportunity to engage in play and have fun with your friends.
- The book area has changed
- No changes here, we have LOTS of space
- Does this looks the same?
- This looks same! The den will change every day as we add new paper!! On Monday it will be twinkling trees!
I will be phoning all of the F1 families when I am next back in work. I can’t wait to hear all of the play that you have been engaged with over the last few days.
I hope that you enjoyed the sunshine and managed to get outside and have fun! I heard that some of you have been to the beach and others swimming again in your pools.. It has been lovely to have the sun shining for so long… I’m not sure my garden plants are happy, they are ready for a good drink!
Today’s challenge involves being outside using water and paint to make ice cube painting sticks!…All you need is paint, water and an ice cube tray.
or food colouring, water and an ice cube tray !! HAVE FUN...
Have a lovely day and make sure that you all have fun and smile a lot.…..from Miss Butler, Mrs Breakwell, Miss Lofthouse.
Wednesday 20th May Treasure Maps, Garden Insects and Dressing up
Hello Everyone It was such a beautiful Tuesday afternoon bright blue sky and so lovely and warm. I hope that you all managed to spend some time outside on a walk or in you garden. During my phone calls I heard some of you were swimming your garden pool, others were enjoying the lolly pop recipe. It was a perfect day to enjoy a lolly pop.
This looks like wonderful fun in the SUN! Picking ball out of water with your feet! FABULOUS fun.

It was lovely to hear all of your excited and happy voices again today, there were lots of giggles from you all during my telephone calls. You are all getting VERY good at talking to me on the phone. I understand it is tricky that I don’t use a phone with a picture screen, so many of you wanted to show me things and using my old hands held phone doesn’t allow me! Sorry.
The giggles and excitement during my phone calls involve role play… I spoke to a mermaid with makeup and bangles, Then I spoke to some who had put their dad into ‘ tickle jail ‘ because he was tickling them… I’ve also been sent photos of two pirates on a treasure hunt… I wonder what character you have played and enjoyed recently?
![]()
Maps seem to be everywhere at the moment, other year groups across the school are also exploring maps!
I wonder what your pirate map would look like? You could make a map of you garden and then hide something from your mum and dad…. I wonder if they will be able to find the item using your map? Then you could take turns CAN YOU FIND THE TREASURE?
Today I want to share with you Mrs Galling exciting news.
Mrs Galling has Visiting Hedgehogs!
Mrs Galling was getting ready for bed several weeks ago and was surprised to hear a loud snorting sound coming from outside her bathroom window, so she fetched her husband to investigate!
Mr Galling opened the bathroom window and looked out, to discover a fully grown hedgehog and a baby hedgehog snuffling around the plant pots, looking for bugs. Mrs Galling was VERY surprised, she didn’t realise that hedgehogs made a sound which is similar to a pig!
Mrs Galling was able to get some special hedgehog food, as they mustn’t eat bread or seeds as it is bad for their bones. Every night at about 10pm Mrs Galling puts out a bowl of food and a bowl of water for the hedgehogs.
We have ‘spied’ them at their dishes several times, however they are very secretive and hide behind the plants when they spot us! They must like the food, as the bowl gets pushed quite a long way across the ground each night.
We also saw them in our flower bed, they were snuffling through the leaves and earth looking for bugs to eat. Hedgehogs are most busy, as it took them 3 hours to work their way through our flower bed!
Having hedgehogs in our garden has made both me and my husband smile.
I wonder if you could make a mini hedgehog with your playdough and stick that you can find at home or on your walk?. I wonder if you will make a baby or fully grown hedgehog? I look forward to seeing your designs.
I wonder what new insects, birds or animals you might find in your garden or on your walk today?
I know three of you enjoy looking at horses and ponies on your daily walks. I watched the farmer near me getting the hay out ready for their horses on my early morning walk. I will check next time by looking into the stables to see if there are ponies, as you requested.. I will let you know. During this walk I also found a ‘Green Shield Bug’ on my shoulder!!! He must have needed a ride.
Have a lovely Wednesday and Keep Smiling and Keep Safe
Miss Butler , Mrs Breakwell and Miss Lofthouse
