Thursday 26th March 2020

Good morning base 2,

We are now on day 4 of home learning and I hope all is going well.  As I keep saying, please make sure you are taking regular breaks and are learning some new home skills to support the rest of your family.

Luca, James and I have been doing Joe Wicks – well James has, Luca runs around and my bump doesn’t seem to let me do half of the exercises but I do what I can.  However, we are making the most of the nice weather and go into the garden for fresh air and to explore (Luca likes to watch the ants – he tries to eat them though!).

For today I would like you to complete the following:

English

Following on from yesterday’s learning of ‘Synonyms and Antonyms’,  I would like you to complete the word web attached below.  From the book you are reading you need to choose three words (try and choose some challenging words) and place them in the middle of each web.  You then need to research synonyms of these words.

I would like you to then rewrite the sentence your chosen word has come from and try replacing it with a synonym. Repeat this twice for each web.

Discuss the following questions with your family at home:

*Does the sentence have the same effect on you?

*Does the word change the information to mean something else?

Tuesday 24th March 2020

Good morning base 2,

I hope the first day of your online learning was a successful one.  I am aware that some websites are taking longer to download, try to be patient.

On our webpage you would have noticed a message regarding the log in to Discovery Education as the password and username did not print out on the sticker very clearly.  If you are experiencing any problems, please take a look our HTV website and check the username again.

For today I would like you to complete the following:

Every single day Monday to Friday, Joe Wicks is doing a live PE workout session for children.  This is called “PE with Joe” and is going to be aired on his YouTube Channel ‘The Body Coach’, at 9am.

  • Home skills – What new home skills have you learnt? Have you helped your family with the washing up, cooking, making your bed?  This is a time to become more independent and start learning new skills around the home.  I am sure your family would love the help.

I have received some great photos.  One family has suggested the following for ‘Under the Sea’ yoga with Cosmic Kids yoga on YouTube.  Any other suggestions you have please let me know and I will put it on our class page.

I always said we are a class that thinks about each other and you are really showing it!

Make sure you let me know how you are getting on or even upload some photos.

Take care, Mrs Cousins.

Life Education

On Wednesday 12th and Thursday 13th February saw us welcoming the ‘Life Education Bus’ to Haytor View.  During the two days, each class had the opportunity to take part in activities linked to understanding their bodies, health and keeping safe.  Parents also had the opportunity to gain a little bit of an insight to what went on.  This was a good opportunity for parents to support their child in developing their understanding.  We look forward to welcoming ‘Life Education’ back next year.

“I enjoyed seeing Harold again.”

“I learnt that the liver gets rid of poisonous food.”

“I enjoyed learning about the body; I learnt lots of things!”

“”I learnt about what food is good to eat.”

“I enjoyed learning about the parts of the body on Tam.”

“I learnt lots about our brains.”

“I learnt about compromise.  Harold and Derek comprised when they sang with each other.”

“I learnt that the liver does 500 different jobs.”
