Word are important and so we have now found our way of sharing all of the wonderful vocabulary we discover through the week in our reading and talking, at school and home.
Here are the words we discovered and shared last week. I cannot wait to see the list we come up with next week!

IT’S NOW WEEK 4!
Things are moving on at Haytor View and we are all settling into what are very new routines for all of us. We greatly appreciate your patience and support for all of the measures we are taking to keep our school environment a healthy and safe space to be We are hugely appreciative of all the measures you have been taking to ensure that your children are healthy when attending school, this has included: 1) Keeping your children off from school if they are showing signs of being generally unwell; 2) Returning children to school when they feel better from illness; 3) Contacting school if you are unsure of what to do regarding your child; All of the above really underpins our approach to supporting an environment where bugs are kept to a minimum, which enables us to swiftly spot where a child might be feeling under the weather. As we become more comfortable with new procedures in school it is all too easy to become complacent, when what we know is that nationally the coronavirus is very much at large. With this in mind could we remind you please to:-

IT’S NOW WEEK 3!
Time really is moving on a pace at Haytor View, we are incredibly respectful of the support both children and parents have provided during what has been a very different start to the school year!
Your support has enabled us to have a smooth, safe and swift return to school, the environments is incredibly positive and busy as children go about their day to day routines.
We are always ‘looking forward’ to what’s next at Haytor View, school leaders are constantly reviewing all aspects of school in order to ensure that provision is not unnecessarily compromised in these COVID-19 times.
We will keep you updated on any plans moving forward, however in the meantime to give you ‘taste’ of what has been happening at Haytor View:
- The Governing Board have met remotely to review the arrangements for the return to school including Risk Assessment;
- Our new Reception children have been warmly welcomed into the school;
- Miss Butler has ran a Forest Session for children and parents from the Nursery, this will followed by a Sherborne Movement session on Thursday;
- Mrs Galling has attended Safeguarding Refresher training, which was postponed from last term;
- ‘Bubble Assemblies’ are taking place in each of the school bubbles;
- We have welcomed Mr Edwards into Key Stage 2, who is supporting release cover this term;
- Mrs Galling has remotely with the Speech and Language Therapist to discuss how Speech and Language support can be provided this year, in line with both the school’s Risk Assessment as well as the risk assessment process of the Speech and Language team;
We would wish to remind you of our core aims as shared last week: That you children feel that:-
- they are our main focus
- they are welcome, safe and can trust us
- they are back in theirschool again
- their relationships with others, children and adults, are still there
- while everything is not quite normal we will manage things for them and keep them safe
Please speak to us if you feel that for any reason your child is not feeling as we, and you, would wish.
You know where we are and how to get in touch.
WE’RE IN WEEK 2!
As we are enjoying our second week with your children it seems an appropriate time to share with you a few of the suggestions made by teachers at the start of this term when asked how they would want children to feel as a result of spending time with us again following such a long break. We would wish you children to feel that:-
- they are our main focus
- they are welcome, safe and can trust us
- they are back in their school again
- their relationships with others, children and adults, are still there
- while everything is not quite normal we will manage things for them and keep them safe
Please speak to us if you feel that for any reason your child is not feeling as we, and you, would wish. You know where we are and how to get in touch.
WELCOME BACK EVERYBODY!
Well we have waited a long time to say those amazing three words, and what a welcome we have all had. It was wonderful seeing your wonderful children bounce into school on Tuesday all eager and ready to learn.
Thank you for the fantastic help you provided in
- Staggering your arrival into school between 8.35am and 9.00am;
- Not crowding the doors and waiting for your child’s class teacher;
- Being prompt to arrive to collect your child at 3.15pm;
- Keeping your child close, making sure they weren’t running around the school site;
- Keeping a social distance;
Our teachers really appreciated you smiling and saying hello at handover time, but not seeking to resolve queries or share information. This is a massive compromise for all of us at the moment, it is one of the areas of our Risk Assessment that led to the most head scratching and discomfort. However, we need to keep your children safe and really appreciate your understanding and patience to this end.
We are tremendously respectful of the trust you have put in us in returning your children to Haytor View for the start of term, we will ensure you are kept up to date regarding both arrangements and your child.
Here is wishing your child, you and us a happy and health Autumn Term!
