Asda Outdoor Picnic and Asda Bread Shop!!

We have been working with Jane from Asda for two weeks. The idea initial came from one of the children who wanted to have a REAL outside picnic,  in a den. At this picnic we explored Vegetables…carrots, celery, spinach, avocado, red, yellow and green peppers and cress. One child questioned…”Why would we eat a plant? ” when she was looking at the cress…But then loved the taste and took home a whole pot for herself..Yum.    On the second week the group decided to build a shop out of the blocks inside, with shelves and a cafe to taste the bread. We tried different Breads… naan bread, carrot bread, pumpernickel bread, cheese bread, soda bread, french loaf and pitta breads. Next week we are going to learn how to make our own bread with Jane…YUM…YUM.

What an amazing start to our school year.

Creative, Collaborative learners both inside and outside everyday this week.

As a Foundation Team we have changed the way in which we observe the children’s learning. You will see spontaneous learning stories and focused children’s files above the coat area of base 1 and base 2.

Please do take time to read your child’s learning stories on the wall. We will also share these focused children’s learning stories with families at the end of each week. It will be a wonderful way to share the amazing learning we have noticed across a week.

Thank you Jane & Asda

For the last four weeks Jane from Asda has visited the Foundation Stage Unit once a week to teach small groups of  children how to make fresh fruit yogurts.  YUM YUM … 🙂

Fabulous Fun this week 10th June
