Image result for pea seeds

Are you remembering to care for the pea seeds you took home on Friday. Remember the pot needs to be placed on a window sill and you need to keep the soil MOIST not WET!! Remember the pea seed will swell and a little root will grow down and a little shoot will grow up and poke through the soil keep looking out for this to happen!

Enjoy reading books together!

Update for Wednesday 25th March

Hello everyone!

I’ve been looking at a few resources to start you off on the Kings and Queens project.

https://www.britroyals.com/timeline.asp _ shows them all one after another and notable events in their reign. How many have there been?!

https://www.dkfindout.com/uk/history/kings-and-queens/ – some details about notable Kings and Queens.

I will send on some specific questions and resources about a few of the most interesting over the next few weeks.

All the best

Day 2 learning (Tuesday 24/03/20)

Hi guys. I’m in our classroom and it’s really empty without you. Our school is a great building, but it’s nothing without you lot. For starters, there’s nobody laughing at my jokes. Spare a thought for what is happening in the North Pole all the moment: Santa’s elves have been told to elf ice-olate.

So onto today’s learning then…

Visit the Discovery Education Espresso website.

Log-in with the username and password you were given (you put it on the back of your Reading and Contact book on a sticker.)

Click on these options:

Key Stage Two – History – Greeks – People

Watch the video about a famous Greek mathematician, Pythagoras.

Activity

Collect all of the information you can from the video about the main man (Pythagoras) and present it in an exciting fact-file type poster that would appeal to other 11-year-olds. It should include pictures, diagrams, fun facts and so on. Use a plain A4-sized piece of paper (it was sent home in your learning pack.) Have fun!

Extension activity

Add to your fact file by widening your search to other websites. Enjoy!

Hello Day 2!

I hope you have had a good day 1? It’s great to see that many of you are accessing BugClub. From Friday, Miss Cameron will be updating BugClub for her groups to set activities and books for the holidays.

If you have not yet done so, your new Home Learning books are ready for collection from outside of the school today. Please can I ask that you collect the books from outside but please do not enter the school. Please contact me using the website with any questions.

Remember to take regular breaks from your learning, drink plenty of water and keep active!

Thinking of you all

Miss Hall 🙂

Years 3 and 4 Base 1 Learning Activities

We’ve made it to Day 2.

I hope you have all enjoyed your first day of home learning. PE with Joe was great yesterday. I hope you all enjoyed the workout. If you have not checked it out yet, make sure you do as it is so much fun!

Handwriting/Spelling

I have uploaded some handwriting/spelling resources. It includes the Year 3 and 4 statutory spelling list, along with another list of words we use every day called High Frequency Words or HFW spelling list. You do not have to use the spelling and the handwriting resources together but it works well using both together.  The best thing to do is to only choose about 5 or 6 spellings at any one time and focus on those until they are learned rather than trying to learn too many at once. This activity can be repeated daily and will work best if it is carried out little and often. Please see the handwriting workout too. This warms up the muscles in your fingers, hands and arms to allow you to be ready for writing.

Times Tables

This year you have all made fantastic progress at learning your times tables. To keep this up you can use the following site. (https://www.timestables.co.uk/multiplication-tables-check/)

Maths

Mental maths Train

https://www.topmarks.co.uk/maths-games/mental-maths-train

Mental Maths Train is a maths game which focuses on the essential vocabulary of addition, subtraction, multiplication and division. It can help children to understand what type of calculation they have to do when faced with word problems.

It is a multiple choice game that is suitable for children from 5 to 11 years of age. Mental Maths Train is also good for consolidation of times tables knowledge.

Bug Club

Keep going with Bug Club. I have updated everyone’s Bug Club account. Your login details are in the front of your home and school contact books on page, Wc 30th September 2019. I will be allocating activities on Bug Club for you to complete over the next while.

Discovery Education

On the front of the learning packs received towards the end of the week, there was a username and password for a resource called ‘Discovery Education’. On Discover Education you will find lots of different resources to support your child’s learning. Check out the section ‘Espresso’ – ‘KS2’.

I hope you have been able to log into Discovery Education. Today, I would like you to do the following activity.

Once in the section KS2, please go to ‘English’ – ‘Grammar and Punctuation’ – Word – Using Standard English verb forms – Under Standard English verb forms, you will see a video screen icon. You will need to click on it to watch it (it can be watched again and again). Once the video clip has been watched, you can then attempt the quizzes and activity.

Have fun learning and happy exploring….

PE

‘PE with Joe’ is a live PE work out session which will run Monday to Friday at 9am. This will be broadcast on Joe Wicks’ YouTube channel ‘The Body Coach’ Please check it out. A great way to start the day!

Please remember to take plenty of breaks during your learning too!

Thank you to all of you who have uploaded learning to the website. It looks great. I look forward to receiving more from you over the next few days. Any questions, please write in and I will get back to you soon as possible.

Tuesday 24th March

Good morning year 5!

I hope you enjoyed your day yesterday and remembered some of those ‘silver linings’ we talked about in class last week.

Today’s literacy learning continues on from yesterday’s on relative clauses. Please visit the BBC bitesize website and visit their video and activity on relative clauses. https://www.bbc.co.uk/bitesize/topics/zwwp8mn/articles/zsrt4qt

Tomorrow’s literacy learning will be having a go at applying some relative clauses to your Mythical Beasts research and design e.g. The Minotaur, who had enormous horns, looked very scary.

Today’s maths learning is to round the numbers below to 1 decimal place (one-tenth).

Rounding-Decimal-Numbers-to-One-Decimal-Place

Keep up the physical activity while you’re at home, Arthur and I will be taking part in Joe Wick’s P.E. session on Youtube this morning!

Please keep going with your Easter Mythical Beasts projects and remember to do some daily reading and spelling practice. I will keep checking my emails for any questions or uploads of learning, keep in touch!

Miss Shopland

Creative Thinking Update

Hello Everyone, Have a good Tuesday and keep busy having fun, playing and learning.

I forgot to say on Monday’s  ‘Creative Thinking’  post that the images you create DO NOT need any glue. The items you find can be arranged and then rearranged.

There aren’t any rules about what you can and can’t use and it is good to keep adding new materials and mixing things up. The same materials can be used in so many different ways by combining them with various other materials to produce different results each time.

Remember you can send photos to us using this site.

I also look forward to finding out about your children’s Ten Frame explorations using the shells you were given and the troll pictures! or your own toys.  Click here for  The Ten Frame  Our Maths Tubes 17.3.2020. This letter was placed into your child’s contact books last week.

Keep Smiling

From Miss Butler

Tuesday 24th March 2020

Good morning base 2,

I hope the first day of your online learning was a successful one.  I am aware that some websites are taking longer to download, try to be patient.

On our webpage you would have noticed a message regarding the log in to Discovery Education as the password and username did not print out on the sticker very clearly.  If you are experiencing any problems, please take a look our HTV website and check the username again.

For today I would like you to complete the following:

Every single day Monday to Friday, Joe Wicks is doing a live PE workout session for children.  This is called “PE with Joe” and is going to be aired on his YouTube Channel ‘The Body Coach’, at 9am.

  • Home skills – What new home skills have you learnt? Have you helped your family with the washing up, cooking, making your bed?  This is a time to become more independent and start learning new skills around the home.  I am sure your family would love the help.

I have received some great photos.  One family has suggested the following for ‘Under the Sea’ yoga with Cosmic Kids yoga on YouTube.  Any other suggestions you have please let me know and I will put it on our class page.

I always said we are a class that thinks about each other and you are really showing it!

Make sure you let me know how you are getting on or even upload some photos.

Take care, Mrs Cousins.
