Today, Year 5 got to explore the vast expanse of the universe within a 10ft dome… Crazy right?
We all enjoyed the experience and learned so much from it. Come and visit our classroom to have a read of our ‘Space Odyssey’ book on our classroom door. It tells you what we learned, what we enjoyed and what we want to find out more about. Check out below for a preview of what some of the children enjoyed:
Nicola really enjoyed learning about the other planets. She found out you couldn’t stand on some of them because they are made of gas.
Sophie learned that black holes can suck up stars.
Skye enjoyed laying down, looking up at the stars and the constellations that they made like Leo and Hercules.
Kai enjoyed the Star Wars part – as did I.
Corey enjoyed the black hole because it looked brutal.
Jamie D and Chloe enjoyed the bit where the stars moved and he felt really dizzy afterwards.
Ebonie enjoyed learning that you turn into spaghetti if you are sucked into a black hole.
Charlie enjoyed learning about black holes after finding out about them in Star Wars. He also enjoyed learning about his favourite planet and finding out that the rings are made of rocks and ice.
Liam enjoyed seeing the different shapes the stars made and wants to learn more about solar eclipses.
Ayesha learned that stars are not pointy and that they are actually spheres and made of fire.
Leo did some maths and worked out 60 quintillion Earths would fit into the biggest known star (VY Canis Majoris)
Rio finally learned that there are stars even bigger than the sun.
Katie really enjoyed finding out about black holes and learning that whatever goes in, never comes back out.
