Yoga in Year 6

Newton Abbot College PE team visited our school to help us try out some new sports. We tried out yoga and we loved it! We practised some poses on our own then got together with a partner to work on some tricky poses together. It was great fun and we will be practising yoga more in the future.

KEEP SAFE WHEN ARRIVING AND LEAVING SCHOOL

The school gates open at 8.30am ahead of doors to classes opening giving access to the courtyard. Please take care of yourselves and your children if you arrive ahead of gates opening. At the start and end of the day the car park and driveway are in active use. We would encourage you to not allow your children to ride scooters in the car park and driveway area during this time. We also encourage you to keep your children close to you when arriving and leaving the school site, as this will keep your children safe – thank you.

ANTI-BULLYING WEEK – REACH OUT! 14–18th NOVEMBER

Haytor View will once again be taking part in Anti-Bullying Week from 14th -18th November. With a theme this year of ‘Reach Out’ the focus of the week is to remind and empower children to do something positive to counter the harm and hurt that bullying causes.

Odd-Socks Day on Monday 14th November will see us encouraging children to wear odd socks in celebration of how we are all unique. There will be an assembly at 9.00am on Monday kicking the week off and introducing the theme to children from Year 1 to Year 6. We would love it if you could join our assembly and share in the messages being explored.

REQUEST FOR DRESSING UP CLOTHES

The children have really enjoyed using the dressing up clothes at lunchtimes they have had a wonderful time enacting different characters. However we are now down to our last 7 items.

If you have any spare clothes, shoes, hats that can be used for dressing up we’d be delighted to add them to our diminished collection. Thank you

Year 3 Meet the Skeletons

Year 3 spent a fun morning investigating skeletons and finding out why animals, including humans, need them. The fun started with Mrs Russell becoming a life sized skeleton and a fun class skeleton dance!  We named the bones in the human body and found out fascinating facts. Did you know babies have more bones than adults?

Year 6 Residential visit to Dartmouth

Just wow! We had an amazing time! From the tree climb to canoeing; from pizza-making to the zipwire – what a trip! Thanks to all parents and carers for finding the money for us to go. We feel like a different class now: have a look at these photos…

Lunch time Learning fun! September 2022

Staying for lunch at school for the first time can be a BIG deal for the children and families but working together we have been able to make this part of our day a time to be social and learn to be independent too!

We are managing so much: listening, answering questions, chatting, making choices, remembering routines and using physical skills to hold our trays and to cut our food to eat!

Lunch time at school is an important part of our learning day!
