WELCOME TO 2021!
It’s safe to say that this isn’t the welcome we would have been wishing to provide
you with at the start of 2021, however we recognise the challenging
circumstances we find ourselves in and are keen to ensure that we do the best we
can in keeping everyone safe in these challenging times.
We hope that you all had a wonderful Christmas and New Year, what was
welcome was that as always the children were keen to share their holiday
experiences when they were in school on Monday.
The children certainly bounced back into school on Monday rejuvenated and
eager to engage with their learning, therefore we are committed to capitalising on this through our remote
learning strategy.
Adults in school have been working hard over the last 48 hours in developing provision moving forward, this
includes the areas of: Safeguarding and welfare; lunches; key worker provision; planning learning for children.
The school’s website Splash Page will direct you to the individual arrangements for your child’s class.
We really want children engaged with the learning which is being carefully planned to support your children’s
next steps in their learning journey, therefore if you have any queries or are experiencing any challenges
please get in touch.
Please remember that we are here to answer any queries you may have, get in touch using the following
means:
1. School Gateway;
2. School email address admin@haytorview.devon.sch.uk;
3. Speaking with school staff via telephone 01626 203040;

Tuesday 5th January

Hello Everyone

It was far too quiet in the classroom without you all laughing and enjoying learning together.

I am pleased that you all are safe and that we could talk to you all today over the telephone.

Tomorrow we hope to be able to see you all via google classroom or zoom so that we can share our group times together. I will phone you in the morning to let you know the times for your group sessions.

On Monday you were ALL amazing at retelling the story that we learnt last term… I wonder ?.. can you retell the story without the video? I know you can already do the voices.

You will see links to the flash phonics and a number spinner game on our google classroom. I will keep adding links each day so that we can share our learning together.

If you have any problems at all getting onto the Google classroom site please do let us know by sending an email to the admin, or a message via the school gateway or by phoning the school. We will quickly reply.

Have a lovely evening. I look forward to seeing you on screen tomorrow.

Tuesday 5th January

Hello folks!

Here we go again! Don’t worry, you are not on your own, we are still here with you.

The way we are going to work things for this lockdown period is that every Monday, on this website, I will put up an outline plan for suggestions for the week’s learning. These are suggestions; please do not feel you will get in any trouble or be doing anything wrong if things don’t get done. Many of you may look at this at get your own ideas about how to do things best for your child. Trust yourselves and your decisions about how to be with your children and what your children need.

Others of you may feel supported by having a bit of a timetable and structure. I will provide one of these for you to work to as much or as little as you feel useful. Everyday, on Google classrooms,  I will put up little activities or resources that will fit in with that structure of the day for you to use as you see fit.

Please do not feel your job is to make them do these activities if it is not right for your children in that moment; just love your children and give them positive, happy experiences so that they remember this time as one where you got to know each other and enjoy each other’s company. Please do not make it a time of stress and conflict by pushing them to do things which they are not in a place to do right then.

Keep in touch, either by phone, through the website or use the google classrooms. We will do whatever we need to do to support you through this tricky time and look forward to when we are able to be together again!
