Zorb and laser fun!

Year 6 were visited this week by Rachel and Alex from the Junction, a youth club in Newton Abbot. They brought zorbs and laser-tag with them and we spent an hour having great fun. They invited us along to a couple of parties they are throwing to help children meet new friends before secondary school. They also invited us to a holiday club full of loads of activities and costing only £5 for the whole day – you even get your lunch thrown in! Parents & carers, please see the letter that Mr Hankin sent home for further details…

Andrei Burton visit

The world-famous trials cyclist visited our school as a reward for winning the Leg-it-to-Lapland schools challenge with Sustrans. Before Christmas we took part in a project to make more sustainable journeys to school for a two-week period and so many of our families participated that we won Andrei’s performance as a prize. It was great fun! Many thanks to Helen, our dedicated Sustrans officer.

Virtual Reality bites at Haytor View!

A team from Musemio visited us and presented learning about Ancient Egypt through the medium of Virtual Reality. We looked for ancient artefacts and collected them by simply clicking on them in the virtual world we explored. It was great fun! We suggested other ways of using Virtual Reality to help us learn better too…

Science Dome

We had a fantastic time in the Science Dome, finding out about Evolution. Although the photos aren’t great due to the technical difficulty of taking a 2D photo in a dome-shaped environment, we learnt loads! It was like being in a 3D cinema and really brought our Science learning to life!

Haytor View winners!

A big thank you to everyone who took part in our ‘Leg it to Lapland’ challenge by walking, scooting or cycling to school for a two week period recently. A big thanks also to Sustrans for inviting us to join the challenge and for providing fantastic prizes. 16 schools took part and overall, when we calculated the average number of miles completed by each child, we finished in joint first place! Well done everyone! You all helped us win a performance by Andrei Burton, one of the world’s best trial bike riders. Check him out online! We are hoping to be able to invite parents and carers, as well as children, to Andrei’s performance in school in the new year. Watch this space…

Year 6 London Trip

We had an amazing time in London! The Houses of Parliament visit was brilliant and the river cruise along the Thames was sensational! Look at our photos…

Leg it to Lapland!

Here’s the turbo trainer in our Hall. Lapland by Pedal Power!

Our children have been safely using the turbo trainer today that was donated for the duration of the Lapland challenge by Sustrans. Ask your child how many miles they managed to achieve!
