The Circus came to town!

What a truly amazing experience we all had today!

Johnny and Lucas came to the school to run circus skills workshops with all the classes and, at the end of the day, put on a performance for the whole school.

I have never, ever seen so much enthusiasm, excitement and delight in a group of children. Children who are usually incredibly reserved and reluctant threw themselves into the workshop and the activities given them. It was incredible to watch their confidence grow as they realised that, with just a little practice they could spin plates or balance feathers on their chins!

My favourite moment was when Lucas and Johnny were at either ends of the hall with half the class each and Lucas used the words ‘challenge’ with his group and all the children from the other group turned round to see what it was so they could have a go. That is the quality of this class!

If anyone is interested in suggesting this to other schools so they can give their children the same sort of deep, rich, developmental and affirming experience, the website for Lucas and Johnny is https://www.ukjuggler.com/schools

World Book Day 2020

A massive thank you to all who took part in World Book Day 2020.

It was a great success and the children enjoyed sharing books with each other, with Year 5 and their counterparts in Year 3 and 4 Base 2. We particularly enjoyed the whole school ‘World Book Day’ assembly at the beginning of the day. At the assembly, we invited children to share their books. We saw picture books, pop-up books, information books (non fiction) and story books (fiction). We also saw new books, old books and even comic style books!

A huge thanks must go out to parents and carers for the effort you have made to make this occasion a resounding success and for the ongoing support you give to foster such a love of reading. World Book Day is such a perfect opportunity to celebrate and appreciate all the hard work you do!

Read your bug club book.

On your book choosing day, choose a book together from our book crates and start to fill in your reading record for the week.

In Time to Think, Plan which Home Learning challenge you would like to do together this week.

Physical

PE with Mr Patchett

The children have loved having Mr Patchett in to support them in PE. Mr Patchett has shared with us some fantastic techniques and has helped us to build our own mini gymnastics floor routines featuring balances such as, a front support, back support, v sit, shoulder stand… We were able to combine these balances with different balances with rolls and jumps that we combined and performed.
