On the afternoon of Friday 16th June our Year 6 School Councillors – Ashton Harry and Lauren Byrne – went along to the final Newton Abbot School Council meeting at Coombeshead Academy. They presented a Powerpoint that they had created around the theme ‘Why Our School is Special’. Mr Whiffen, who chaired the meeting and is an Assistant Head at the school, said that it was the best presentation that he had seen in the last four years of running the Council. What he felt was even more impressive was the presentation skills that they demonstrated and the confidence displayed by Lauren and Ashton. He couldn’t believe that they had created the presentation themselves – planning, researching and creating it without adult help. Mrs Levers was also incredibly impressed (and proud) of the way that they collaborated on the project, spending their own time on it as well as learning time, and treated it as a serious learning experience. Well done on their effort and achievements.
