WELCOME – IT’S GREAT TO SEE YOU ALL!
It has been marvellous seeing children and families joining us back at school this week, and what a week it has been! It is no wonder the sun has been shining, it has had a lot to smile on!
As always the children have bounded into school with beaming smiles and an eagerness to get back into class. There has been lots of laughter, chatting, catching up with friends and adults.
In assemblies and classrooms we have spent some time sharing children’s experiences from the Easter break, as well as exploring the feelings of being reunited. Children in Key Stage 2 have been clear that nervous as well as happy feelings come with the return to school. Given the experiences of the last year that children have lived this is so understandable and important to recognise. In their relatively short lives, like in our longer ones, any progress being made towards things returning to some sort of normal must feel very tentative – even as adults we can see ourselves being really wary about what might happen next can’t we? We’re keen that the experiences of all children in school consider their needs and feelings, comfortable and uncomfortable, so that we can build on the super work that you have done in supporting them over the last 12 months.
With all this in mind we are spending time reconnecting with the children’s prior learning in order to build on the solid foundations we have been striving to maintain during what has been a disrupted year.
Whilst we appreciate the difficulties of not having our usual ‘accessible’ building and staff, we want you to continue to be confident in that whatever questions you have, whatever challenges you are experiencing, please remember we are here to support you – we are always keen to hear from you.
