As the final part of our learning around anti-bullying, the year 2 children were set the challenge of creating something which would help the world be free of bullying- no pressure there then!

The children worked in their creative project teams and combined and applied the learning we have been sharing around their project management “Plan, do, review” model as well as their developing understanding of the issues surrounding bullying.

What they came up with was fantastic!

We had a friendship bench were people who were sad could go to sit so other people knew they needed someone to talk to; a Bully’s house where a sad bully could go and make themselves feel happier so they did not want to bully people; a bullies box, full of supportive messages that a bully could pull out and read if they felt they were going to bully someone. One team went for a poster but realised that their poster needed to stand out, so made them triangular! What great, creative ideas.

I was particularly proud of the children for not instantly condemning a bully as a bad person but rather taking the time to think about why someone would make those bad choices and what they could do to help them make better choices by making them feel happier.

We should all be very proud of children who can show such understanding and compassion. Let’s hope they become world leaders and perhaps make bullying a thing of the past!
