So much has happened this week.
We’ve used instructions to make concrete, we’ve learned how to add two digit numbers, we’ve learned what cm, m, kg and l mean after numbers and used them to measure ourselves, we’ve written instruction with questions and exclamations and we’ve been on a trip to town to spot materials being used around us as well as popping in to the library to choose our creative reading books.
Not only that, a group of our truly amazing parents have taken it upon themselves to run a fund raiser to ensure that everyone is definitely able to go to the Eden project in June. More details about this will follow.
Be sure to return your questionaire slips by Friday 24th March to be in with a chance of winning a £50 Argos voucher!
Haytor View Community Primary School is supporting Safer Internet Day 2017
Haytor View Community Primary School is joining the global Safer Internet Day campaign to promote the safe and responsible use of technology.
Coordinated in the UK by the UK Safer Internet Centre, Safer Internet Day will take place on Tuesday 7th February 2017 with the theme ‘Be the change: Unite for a better internet’.
Celebrated in over 100 countries, Safer Internet Day will see Haytor View join hundreds of organisations right across the UK and globally to ‘be the change’ and help create a better internet.
To celebrate the day, Haytor View will be beginning Tuesday 7th February with an assembly for all children and parents. Following this there will be activities for children throughout the day to support them in sharing, finding out about and considering their personal online activity and that of their friends and families.
Will Gardner, Director of the UK Safer Internet Centre and CEO of Childnet, said:
“Safer Internet Day is an opportunity for everyone across the UK and globally to unite for a better internet. Whether you are a young person, parent, carer, school or organisation, we can all ‘be the change’ and take positive actions to make the internet a better place. Hundreds of schools and organisations have pledged their support for Safer Internet Day and it is this collaboration that helps ensure Safer Internet Day has such a positive impact, reaching 40% of UK children in 2016 and growing year on year.”
Katy Galling, Headteacher of Haytor View Community Primary School, said:
“We are pleased to be able to take part in Safer Internet Day 2017. Safeguarding children and families as well as improving the quality of lives and opportunities for our community is a fundamental element of what we seek to provide at Haytor View. The online lives of our children and families can play a positive and growing role in day-to-day lives – what’s more the nature of the online world is always developing in complexity and demands our ongoing consideration. Like schools across the nation and the world we are keen to share opportunities to learn about the role that this part of our lives plays for us and others through engaging with Safer Internet Day 2017.
