Along with the whole school, Year 2 children had the opportunity to take part in a professionally led dance workshop this week. This was intended to be an immersive event to start our PE focus on dance, to support and enhance our curriculum learning around RE and citizenship as well as just being really good fun!
The workshop helped children to understand the significance of Diwali as a festival and to develop appreciation of the Ramayana. The learning the children had done in school as part of their curriculum learning really impressed our visitors from West End in School and the children have decided to incorporate elements of the dance they performed in the workshop into their Christmas performance. I cannot wait to see what the children create! That is a beautiful example of cross cultural mash up!
